A multi-award winning, innovative new school design. Lairdsland Primary sets the way for future schools.
One of the first new schools commissioned by Scottish Futures Trust and award winning architectural practise — Walters & Cohen. The design response was to create a unique educational building with a 'barrier free' association of learning spaces internally.
Indeglås were commissioned by main contractor Morgan Sindall to follow the architects specification for the integral glazed screens which were frameless and without doors, creating open, flexible learning spaces and linking desk study space to soft seated discussion and activity areas.
DEKO FG Fire screens were installed to enable light to flow throughout stairwells and escape routes.
The project has received much positive attention and the following awards: an Education Award from the Glasgow Institute of Architects (2015), Development of the Year (Public Buildings) at the Scottish Property Awards 2016, a Scottish Design Award, a SPACES Civic Building of the Year Award, a RIAS Award as well as achieving a BREEAM rating of 'Excellent'.
